    COVID-19 Med Card Waiver

Since plenty of state licensing offices are still closed, or have a big backlog, the FMCSA has extended their HOS declaration until May 31st. In turn, this extends the Commercial License and Permits validity, that have expired/or will expire during the Pandemic.

As of February 16th, the FMCSA is allowing….

    1. Allows States to extend the validity of CDLs and Commercial Learners Permits that were supposed to be due on March 1, 2020.
    2. Grants States the ability to let CLP holders to take the CDL skills test without the 14 day wait period after the first allocation of the CLP.
    3. CDL Holders, CLP Holders and non-CDL drivers receive a medical examination and certification, will be waived as long as they have proof of Valid Medical Certification and required medical difference.

Note: Relief granted may vary by each state, depending on what rules they see fit.

There is a separate Notice of Enforcement Policy saying that the agency will not take enforcement against Drivers or Motor Carriers for operation of a CMV if the driver had a valid CDL on February 29 2020.

Many states have designated the maximum of 1 year period of CLP validity.
