Trucking/Passenger companies who operate vehicles with a GVW 26,000 lbs require a CDL.
In NYS all passenger companies who operate vehicles 9 or more (including driver) must possess a minimum CDL C with “P” endorsement.
FMCSA who needs a Medical Card/CDL?
All passenger companies that operate vehicles 11 or more (including driver) or any full size van need a Medical Card who are based in the state of New York and regulated under Article 19A.
Passenger Companies 9 or more including the driver and Trucking Companies if they operate Interstate or do any work considered to be Interstate such as Airport work, are required to have a Medical Card.
Only exemption from medical is a driver solely operates intrastate (within the state) and has receive their regular driver’s license before 1/1/04 or their CDL license prior to 9/9/99.
