As of 9/17/2019, It has been brought to our attention, there is a fake company, going around and emailing some of our clients. They’re asking to do your renewals and compliance needs. This company is called “Hoffenmer”.
The scammers randomly email businesses about their vehicle and driver compliance needs. They use familiar words such as HUT, and IFTA. But when they explain what these words mean, it means something completely different than what they really are! Their website, although designed nicely, is used to confuse companies that need to be in compliance with DOT regulations. These customers will call/email this company, asking for help. When they ask for help, the scammer takes their money, and then does nothing about it. You can even see people complain about it on your BBB site.
I would also like to mention some inconsistencies with their site with you as well. Your page for them says there is one employee there, but they state on their site they have multiple locations in California, New York, and Philadelphia. They have more phone numbers than an old-time phone book! These numbers don’t all match up either. At the bottom, their HQ is in California, but the phone number listed, is for their Philadelphia location. Despite their main “location” being in California, their email states they are actually called “Northwest Processing center, highway use tax division, Federal applications processor Inc, and that they’re located in South Barrington IL. Which is not a location listed on their website.
They even advertise that some of their prices are 5$ to free, really?? How is that possible?! This would never work with DOT regulations.”
